GV:DELETED
Although you are free to create articles, upload files, post on the Discussions board, or leave comments, you must adhere to wiki standards while doing so. Articles, files, posts, and comments can be deleted for a variety of reasons which are discussed below.
Why was my article deleted?
Spam, vandalism, and patent nonsense
Articles which purely consist of content that is:
- illegible (such as made up of an assortment of letters and symbols)
- nonsensical (makes no sense in context or when viewed in a literal perspective)
- solely for the purpose of vandalism
...can be deleted without further notice. Continued creation of spam articles can result in sanctions being applied to your account.
No substantial content
Articles can be deleted if there is no substantial content on the page. This primarily applies when:
- a page is blank.
- a page has very little content which contributes to the scope of the Wiki (providing information and trivia about the game Greenville).
These articles can be deleted without further notice.
Fake information
This primarily applies when a page is created based on fake information. Usually, pages of this sort can be deleted without a notice if the information is obviously fake. However, it is best practice for a proposal to be made and discussed with the community.
Proposals can be brought by adding the {{delete|<[reason goes here]>}}
template to the page.
Unsourced or questionably-sourced content
Citations are required in order to prove the legitimacy of an articles' content(s). Acceptable sources are:
- The official developer discord - posts from developers only. A direct link is required.
- Social media accounts of developers.
Unacceptable sources include but are not limited to:
- Trello boards (including the deprecated one)
- Anything claimed to be "insider information"
A deletion notice will be placed on the page in question, and will only be deleted after at least 1 week has passed from the original time of posting. This should give enough time for sources to be provided.
It was moved or merged with another page
Sometimes, the contents of an article would be better placed on a different article with a similar topic. This is often done due to size, as it is better for information concerning the same topic to be put on a single article.
Usually, a move proposal is done before making moves or merges which may be controversial.
The page already exists
There may be a page that already concerns a topic which you planned on writing about. If this happens, fret not! The page will be changed to a redirect with content transferred to the other relevant article as seen fit.
It's no longer needed
This reason primarily applies to administrative content. If a page no longer is needed for the wiki, it will be deleted.
Why was my file deleted?
It makes no sense to have the file
This wiki focuses on the game Greenville, Wisconsin. Irrelevant files (such as faces of Mr. Bean) will be deleted without further notice unless it is used in a way that makes sense.
Exceptions can apply: one way this can be done is by using the file in an article, then explaining the relevance of the file to the game within the caption or the file's description itself.
It is unused
Files may be deleted when unused for long periods of time. This reduces the amount of clutter on the wiki.
Why was my post deleted?
It contains advertising irrelevant to Greenville
You may not advertise anything that is not related to Greenville.
The post contains suspicious links
Such posts will be deleted without further notice.
Post contains fake information
This is also not tolerated. Posts presented in a format which makes it appear to be official information (where the content is actually not) will be deleted without further notice.
